REQUIRED OSHA SUMMARY MUST BE POSTED BY FEBRUARY 1
The Form 300A summarizes recordable workplace injuries and illnesses and should not be confused with the OSHA Log or Form 300. The Form 300A lists the total numbers of job-related injuries and illnesses that occurred during 2011 and were logged on the OSHA Log/OSHA Form 300. Information regarding the average number of employees and the total hours worked during the calendar year is also required. All summaries must be certified by a company executive and companies without any recordable injuries/illnesses should post the form with zeros in the total line.
The Form 300A must be posted in a common area (wherever notices to employees are usually posted) and must remain posted until April 30, 2012. Employers must make a copy of the Form 300A available to employees who move from work site to work site, such as construction workers, and employees that do not report to a fixed establishment on a regular basis.
Employers from certain industry groups and businesses that employ ten or fewer employees may be exempt from OSHA record keeping and posting requirements. However, all private-sector employers are required to report the work-related death of any employee or hospitalizations of three or more employees. Also, all employers must post the required OSHA Poster in a prominent location in the workplace.
OSHA forms, posters and instructions along with nonsubscriber-related forms and notices are available free of charge to any employer on TXANS website. TXANS Member Resource Center, a benefit of TXANS membership provides immediate access to a vast library of information on workplace safety, employee benefits, research, statistical and other nonsubscriber related publications.
