TXANS AND OSHA FORM ALLIANCE FOR TEXAS NONSUBSCRIBERS
The Texas Association of Responsible Nonsubscribers (TXANS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) have formed an alliance to provide Texas nonsubscribers with information, guidance, and access to training targeted at reducing and preventing workplace hazards.
TXANS and OSHA will work together to…
Develop training and education programs regarding OSHA regulations and to provide expertise in communicating such information to employers and employees.
Provide expertise in developing information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards, and to provide expertise in developing ways of communicating such information to employers and employees in general industry or construction, with an emphasis on small business.
Raise awareness of and demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and health.
Develop and disseminate case studies illustrating the business value of safety and health and publicize their results.
Continue to offer information regarding OSHA regulations in TXANS News, TXANS Newsline & TXANS Knowledge Center while also developing materials, training programs, workshops, seminars, and lectures on workplace safety and health.
Promote and encourage participation in OSHA's cooperative programs such as compliance assistance, the Voluntary Protection Program, consultation, and the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program.
Encourage businesses to build relationships with OSHA's regional and area offices to address health and safety issues, including hazard identification.
“TXANS appreciates the efforts of OSHA, particularly Eric Harbin, Area Director and Joann Natarajan, Compliance Assistance Specialist in helping to make this agreement possible,” TXANS Executive Director Steve Bent said. “Nothing
is more important in the scope of operating as a responsible nonsubscriber than preventing workplace injuries. One of the best ways to accomplish this goal is to ensure that nonsubscribers work to exceed OSHA workplace safety standards for their particular industry. TXANS is pleased to have entered into this alliance and looks forward to working with both OSHA and employers toward these important goals.”
